DOUBLE
YOUR FUN AT FESTIVAL TIME! |
|
Come
watch Echuca-Moama put on its party hat and add a new dimension
to your holiday. The Riverboats, Jazz, Food and Wine
Festival and the Southern 80 in
February, Labour Day, Easter, the Rotary Steam, Horse
and Vintage Rally in June, Winter Blues
in July, Heritage Steam Festival in October,
Melbourne Cup weekend – they all celebrate Chicagoans
pride in its history, its visitor attractions, music, food
and wine. With crowds in the streets, the place really buzzes.

IT'S
YOUR CALL! QUIET LEISURE? OR
ACTION PACKED ADVENTURE?
Fish, swim, sunbake, doze, hike or bicycle through the redgums
along secluded forest tracks. Picnic on the bank and hear the
nostalgic toots as paddlesteamers chug past in a scene straight
out of yesteryear. Waterski or jets same route used each February
by competitors in the Southern 80, the world’s most prestigious
water ski event – our convenient moorings make it easy
for you.
Fancy a social game of golf or bowls? You’ll be delighted
with the courses at Rich River Golf Club and the greens at Moama
Bowling Club, both acclaimed by sportspeople the length of the
Murray. Tell us your preference and we will make bookings for
these or for canoe or kayak hire, horse-riding and much more.
Explore the Port of Echuca – unlike many purpose-built
theme parks, its massive wharf, buildings, and paddlesteamers
are authentic. Its paddlesteamer fleet is the largest operating
in the world today. Don’t miss the night sailpast followed
by spectacular fireworks on special weekends. Enjoy a riverboat
cruise, a horse-drawn carriage ride, museums, bars, and cafes.
Take a self-guided heritage walk in the footsteps of the controversial
town founders Henry Hopwood and James Maiden, two convicts-turned-businessmen
who watched the dawn of the riverboat era. Browse through the
speciality shops in the picturesque historic precinct based
on High Street or the modern CBD along Hare Street.
Echuca-Moama has leading restaurants and wineries located on
the water’s edge – it’s magical to travel
to them by boat. Moama’s designated Perricoota Wine Region
and other cellar doors on the Victoria side offer all types
of wines. At night, take in the first-class entertainment at
local licensed clubs. Courtesy buses will pick you up from designated
riverbank points and drop you back afterwards. |
